JOB DESCRIPTION

Royal Queensland Golf Club is one of Australia’s premier private members’ clubs, renowned for its strong culture, high service standards, and commitment to delivering an exceptional Member experience.

We are seeking an experienced Bar / Front of House Manager to join our leadership team and act as second-in-command to the House Manager. This is a key operational leadership role within a seven-day clubhouse operation.

 

About the Role

The Bar / FOH Manager is the day-to-day operational leader of the Clubhouse, responsible for leading people, maintaining service standards, and ensuring smooth delivery across bar, lounge, and function spaces.

This is a leadership role, not a hands-on bartender position. While you will support operations as required, your primary focus will be on managing the floor, leading supervisors and casual staff, and acting as Duty Manager during rostered shifts.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as Duty Manager and operational lead during rostered shifts
  • Lead and support Bar Supervisors and FOH staff
  • Ensure consistent service standards across all bar and clubhouse areas
  • Take operational ownership of events and functions on the day
  • Interpret and deliver event run sheets in collaboration with the Events Administrator and House Manager
  • Manage bar operations including stock control, ordering, and RSA compliance
  • Handle Member and guest enquiries and issues professionally and calmly
  • Maintain strong communication across departments
  • Support the House Manager with leadership coverage and operational oversight

REQUIREMENTS

About You

You are a confident, experienced hospitality leader who understands how to lead people rather than doing everything yourself. You are comfortable stepping back from the bar to manage teams, make decisions, and set standards.

You will bring:

  • Proven leadership experience in hospitality, clubs, hotels, or similar environments
  • Strong people-management and communication skills
  • The ability to remain calm and decisive in a busy, member-focused environment
  • Sound knowledge of bar operations and RSA requirements
  • A professional, respectful approach to staff and Members
  • Experience working in a private club or member-based environment (highly regarded)
